NEWARK BETH ISRAEL MEDICAL CENTER PROGRAM TO FOCUS ON WEIGHT-LOSS SURGERY

Newark, NJ – The most up-to-date information on breakthrough weight-loss surgery will be the focus of a Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Community Forum on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 entitled, Weight No More: Achieving Weight Loss for Life – Options in Bariatric/Weight-loss Surgery.

The program, presented by Leonard D. Benitez, MD, CWS, FACS, DMP, a surgeon at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, along with Adam Kopelan, MD, Vice Chairman of Surgery and Chief of Minimally Invasive Surgery at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson, 2 Exchange Place, Jersey City, NJ. The program is free but pre-registration is required.       

Dr. Benitez, fellowship-trained in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, along with Dr. Kopelan, board-certified in General Surgery with a special interest in Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery, head up the Center for Advanced Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Newark Beth Israel. Their presentation will address how weight-loss surgery is giving an increasing number of persons with severe obesity a new start in life.
