Newark, NJ--Roseann DiBrienza, MS, RN, Vice President of Patient Care Services at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, (NBIMC) will be honored at the “Salute to the Policy Makers” Awards Dinner, given by the Executive Women of New Jersey (EWNJ). The dinner will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Hyatt Hotel in New Brunswick.
The “Salute to the Policy Makers” Awards Dinner is a fundraising event that honors high-achieving women who are members of Boards of Directors or who hold senior executive management positions and affect policy in major companies, academia, non-profits and government.
Ms. DiBrienza has been with NBIMC since 2004. She has continuously focused on enhancing the quality and safety of patient care. Ms. DiBrienza was instrumental in the implementation of many initiatives that have produced exceptional clinical outcomes, including the ICU Collaborative, MRSA Prevention and the Organ Donation and Procurement Project. She has been integral to the development of the Pulmonary Hypertension and Lung Transplant Program.
NBIMC was the first in the state and one of the first in the country to implement MRSA Prevention through early screening and identification of colonized patients, which led to zero transmission in the ICU. Ms. DiBrienza also spearheaded the development of an early alert system called Code SMART (Sepsis Management Alert Response Team) which enables the immediate response of a team of health workers to initiate therapy, which resulted in decreased mortality. Both of these initiatives were presented at state and national Institute for Health Improvement conferences.
Before NBIMC, she served eight years at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, in positions including critical care surgery, surgical services, pain management, bloodless medicine and surgery. Ms. DiBrienza is a member of the Organization of Nurse Executives and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She received a BSN from Hunter College/Bellvue College of Nursing, an MS in nursing education from Wagner College and a degree in Advanced Pharmacodynamics from Wagner College.
Proceeds from the dinner will be used to fund EWNJ’s graduate school scholarship program, as well as other programs that advance women. Founded in 1980, EWNJ is the state’s oldest organization for senior-level women.
