During labor and delivery, Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Department of Anesthesiology has physicians available, in-house, 24 hours per day to assist women who have requested assistance with pain relief options. There are two anesthesiologists exclusively devoted to labor and delivery, along with a team of anesthesiology residents and nurses.
With this full complement of anesthesia professionals, Saint Barnabas is able to accommodate a large volume of patients with a variety of services, ranging from neonatal resuscitation to continuous epidural anesthesia. Also available is an acute pain service consisting of an anesthesiologist who specializes in the management of postoperative pain.
