Postpartum Depression Support Group

It is estimated that 10 to 20 percent of mothers develop postpartum depression. Early identification and treatment are associated with a more rapid recovery. When symptoms––such as crying, mood changes, guilt, loss of interest, anxiety, insomnia and thoughts of hurting self or baby–– persist beyond two weeks postpartum, it is likely that a woman is suffering from postpartum depression.

Saint Barnabas Medical Center offers a free, open support group that meets weekly and is led by Lauren Meisels, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in prenatal and postpartum adjustment. The group meets every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center (ACC), 200 South Orange Avenue in Livingston, across from the Livingston Mall.

Free childcare is available if needed by calling (973) 322-7309 at least 24 hours in advance.

Free valet parking is available. For more information, please call the 24-hour-a-day Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network hotline at 1-800-300-0628.
