SAINT BARNABAS BURN FOUNDATION HOLDS PEDALING FOR PREVENTION: THE ANTI-BURN RIDE

Livingston, N.J. – Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation will hold its first annual Pedaling for Prevention Anti-Burn Ride in support of The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas on Sunday, June 24, 2007. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center (SBACC), located at 200 South Livingston Avenue in Livingston (across from the Livingston Mall).

Riders will enjoy a 40-, 25- or 10-mile ride which loops through the scenic Great Swamp Refuge and tree-lines communities of Morris and Somerset Counties. All riders start and finish at the SBACC where there will be a post-race party, DJ, games, prizes, and the Kids Bike Slalom Challenge.

Participating riders are asked to gather pledges based on their age group: ages 21 and over must have a minimum pledge of $50; ages 13 to 20, $20; and children under the age of 12, $10. Prizes will be awarded to the top three pledge raisers in each age category.

The ride course is professionally managed and includes rest stops, water, Gatorade and refreshments. There will also be an on-site bicycle technician to make sure bikes are in the best condition for the ride.

As the educational, research and fundraising arm of The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas, the Burn Foundation has been providing fire safety and burn prevention education programs to school children, businesses, community organizations, health care professionals and fire service personnel across the state for more than 20 years.

In carrying out its mission, the Burn Foundation devotes particular attention to the more vulnerable segments of the population, namely children and seniors, as well as providing ongoing support to our dedicated partners in burn prevention – New Jersey’s 7,313 career and 32,531 volunteer firefighters. Annually the Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation and The Burn Center touch the lives of over 34,000 individuals through either direct patient care or prevention and education programs.
