Center Sleep Center to Offer Livingston, N.J. -Getting a good night sleep is important for your health, but for millions of people with chronic sleep problems, along with their partners or spouse, it would be a dream to return to the days of sleeping like a baby. According to The National Sleep Foundation, sleep-related studies reveal that the impact of snoring, daytime fatigue, insomnia, and other sleep disorders can be a sign of a serious health condition and put a person at risk for high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke and affect one’s ability to maintain a healthy weight. “Snoring, especially heavy snoring that disturbs a bed partner’s sleep, is often associated with a condition known as sleep apnea, which may increase one’s risk of hypertension, arrhythmias and sudden death during sleep,” says Mangala Nadkarni, M.D., Medical Director of The Kazmir Center for Sleep Disorders at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. To determine if you are at risk for a Sleep Disorder, attend a free community lecture and sleep screening on March 12, 2009 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, 94 Old Short Hills Road in Livingston, N.J. Dr. Nadkarni will also address the health risks associated with snoring and other sleep-related disorders and discuss how they are evaluated, diagnosed and managed. Pre-registration is request by March 6, 2009, by calling 1-888-724-7123 and selecting prompt #1.
