Saint Barnabas Medical Center’s Radiology Department physicians,
nurses and technicians are experienced in providing special care to
children. To help make children’s radiology exams a comfortable
and positive experience, parents are encouraged to remain with their
children during radiology procedures. Pregnant mothers may accompany
their children to the procedure room, but may not remain during the
exam.
The following procedures are offered:
- CT (Cat Scan)
- Nuclear Medicine
- MRI
- X-Ray
- Ultrasound
- Interventional Radiology
Some radiology exams require the child to be completely still in
order to obtain an accurate study. Some children may need a mild sedative
or conscious sedation to insure they remain still for a prolonged procedure.
The Department of Anesthesiology’s Board Certified pediatric
anesthesiologists provide safe conscious sedation for infants and children.
Plans for a mild sedative or sedation must be made when the radiology
procedure is scheduled. Your child’s physician can make all the
necessary arrangements.
Led by a pediatric radiologist, the team consists of Board Certified
and licensed radiologists, licensed and registered nurses and technologists
-- all trained and experienced in age sensitive issues.
The nurses in the Saint Barnabas Medical Center Radiology Department
are available to answer any questions you may have regarding your child’s
planned exam.
