Electrophysiologists at Saint BarnabasMedical Center have performed morethan 50 cardiac ablations using anadvanced robotic catheter and
3-Dmapping technology. Saint Barnabas is one of the international sites chosen toparticipate in an ongoing clinical studycomparing results of robotic versus manualcatheter techniques.
“Our growth in volume and experiencehas resulted in reduced procedure times,”said David P. Dobesh, MD, interventionalcardiologist who has been performingrobotic ablations for two years. “A shorter procedure time reduces anesthesia time for thepatient as well as x-ray exposure for both the patient and staff. We reached this milestonewithout a single significant procedural complication.
”The Atrial Fibrillation Center, located at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and NewarkBeth Israel Medical Center, is one of the highest volume atrial fibrillation programs inthe state and offers all treatment options. The comprehensive approach to care includes ateam of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and electrophysiologists who provide a completeassessment and the most appropriate treatment plan for long-term.
