Nazly M. Shariati, MD, Director of Thoracic Surgery at Newark

Barnabas Medical Center, joined the Barnabas Health Heart
Centers in 2007. Dr. Shariati’s expertise includes
surgical treatment of diseases of the chest including cancers
of the lung, esophagus and chest wall; tumors in the organs
contained in the chest cavity and transplantation of the
heart and lungs.
Dr. Shariati is experienced in video-assisted thoracoscopic
surgery techniques and works closely with the team of physicians
at the Barnabas Health Heart Centers and the Frederick B.
Cohen, MD, Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Newark Beth
Israel Medical Center. She is active in the Lung Transplant
Program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Shariati
received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati,
OH. She completed a residency in general surgery at Morristown
Memorial Hospital, NJ, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic
surgery at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College
of Medicine, Bronx, NY. She is a published author and active
in clinical research.
