Our Centers

Cystic Fibrosis Center at Monmouth Medical Center
where we specialize in care, teaching and research.

We are a comprehensive Pediatric and Adult Cystic Fibrosis Center. The Pediatric Program is located on the grounds of Barnabas Health - Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey.  The Adult Program is also located on the campus of Monmouth Medical Center under the direction of Doantrang Du, M.D.

Barnabas Health - Monmouth Medical Center is a major teaching affiliate of Drexel University, College of Medicine, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies. Because of these affiliations, we have the ability to provide experience to the doctors that may further the cause of understanding and treating cystic fibrosis.

Our program has been in existence for more than 30 years and is accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as a Care, Teaching and Research Center.  Patient care is provided through a multi-disciplinary approach.  The Center design was established to provide patients and their families with a comprehensive program that not only focuses on the patient’s medical needs but the emotional needs of the patient and his or her family.

In January 2009, the CF Center at Monmouth Medical Center became a Therapeutic Development Center (TDC). We are a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics Development Network (CFFTDN) that specializes in conducting clinical trials to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of new CF therapies. TDN centers work together to promote quality, safety and efficacy in CF clinical trials by centralizing and standardizing the research process.

Clinical research at our CF center is under the direction of Robert Zanni, MD, a Certified Primary Investigator (CPI) by the association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). He is also a member of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physician Investigators. The clinical research team includes other physician investigators and two research coordinators, our respiratory therapist and our registered dietician.

If you are interested in partcipipating in clinical trials or want more information please call our center at 732-222-4474.

The Center understands that Cystic Fibrosis is a complicated and frustrating disease. We hope to provide the services that address the physical and emotional issues that impact the patient and his/her family.

Family Advisory Council

Family Advisory Council Mission Statement

The council’s mission is to assist and support theCystic Fibrosis Center in its goal to provide superior family-centered care by promoting family involvement to strengthen the collaboration between patients and the CF Care Team.

The Cystic Fibrosis Center at Monmouth Medical Center values the insights of the parents and family members of children with CF. As a result, in 2006, the Family Advisory Council (FAC) was developed to provide parents the opportunity to collaborate with the CF team to improve the quality of care provided by the center. Healthcare professionals acknowledge and respect the experiences of their patients and their families while appreciating each family’s expertise throughout their own journey. Increased involvement of families can facilitate the enhancement of the care center’s ability to provide responsive care. Overall, more responsive care results in greater patient and family satisfaction with their care center.

The Family Advisory Council welcomes you to the CF Community and looks forward to being a source of information and support to you and your family in the future.

If you would like to speak with a member of the Family Advisory Council, please contact Kerryann, CF Center Adult Program Social Worker and Family Advisory Council member at 732-222-4474, or Kristin Kantner, MSW, CF Center Pediatric Program Social Worker at kkantner@barnabashealth.org , 732-222-4474.
