The Lung Transplant Program offers a complete evaluation
and
treatment plan for patients suffering from disabling
lung disease
and whose condition continues to worsen despite
optimal medical
management. Prompt evaluation for a transplant
is particularly
important for patients with idiopathic pulmonary
fibrosis (IPF),
pulmonary arterial hypertension and cystic fibrosis
with recent
deterioration. Disease progression in these illnesses
is often
unpredictable and early consultation with the comprehensive
lung
transplant team can help to ensure the best possible
outcome.
While the primary goal is to identify suitable
candidates for a
transplant, the comprehensive multidisciplinary
evaluation can also
benefit patients who are not transplant candidates.
At the referring
physician’s request, our experienced team becomes a partner in
caring for patients with complex needs.
