A quality transplant program depends upon the experience and expertise of its medical staff.The newest member of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System Renal and Pancreas Transplant Centers' elite team of physicians is surgeon Stephen R. Guy, M.D., F.A.C.S. He comes to Saint Barnabas from Temple University Medical Center, Philadelphia, where he served as Director of the Abdominal Organ Transplant Program. Prior to that, Dr. Guy was a transplant surgeon and assistant professor of surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
“I am pleased to be a member of this progressive transplant team,” remarks Dr. Guy. I look forward to expanding the pancreas transplant program and will continue my research into islet cell transplantation.” Dr. Guy is a highly regarded surgeon whose experience extends beyond organ transplantation to include multi-mode treatments for liver and other abdominal tumors. He is presently exploring new techniques in laparoscopic liver surgery.
A New Transplant Surgeon – The Saint Barnabas Health Care System welcomes Stephen Guy, M.D., the newest member of the Renal Transplant Team.
Dr. Guy received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Boston University. He completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and a fellowship in transplantation at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Guy is an avid researcher and prolific writer. He has conducted research studies in transplantation and immunosuppression for the past 20 years and has authored more than two dozen articles. A widely respected speaker, Dr. Guy continues to share his experience and expertise in the field of transplantation at national and international professional gatherings.
