M. Isabel Roberti, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Director of Pediatric Nephrology and Transplantation, had two abstracts accepted by the American Society of Nephrology, entitled, "Use of Tacrolimus vs. Cyclosporine for the Treatment of Severe Nephrosis in Pediatric Patients — a Comparative Analysis," and "Does Renal Pathology Correlate with the Severity of the Systemic Symptoms in Children with SLE?" Dr. Mulgaonkar submitted an article to the same publication, entitled, "Cyclosporin Dose Reduction in Maintenance Renal Transplant Recipients Taking Everolimus (Certican®) Improves Renal Function."
At a meeting of the National Society for Transplant Social Work, Marcia Krupit, M.S.W., (left) presented, "Development of an Altruistic Living Donor Program," and Adriane Shaw, M.S.W., (right) presented "The Living Donor’s Perspective: Results of a Focus Group," based on research led by Debbie Morgan.
  
At a meeting of the North American Transplant Coordinators Organization (NATCO), an abstract presented by Charles Lascari, M.A., R.N., Clinical Manager of Transplant Services, on "Renal Transplantation in Patients with Sickle Cell Disease," was awarded top clinical abstract. A presentation by Andrea Tietjen, M.B.A., Manager of Data and Finance, (left) on "Clinical Integration of Billing for a Pediatric Nephrology and Transplant Program" was recognized as the top hospital development abstract. And Christie Rice, R.N., Research Coordinator, (right) presented a poster presentation on "Impact of Simulect on Rejection, One Year Graft Survival and Allograft Function in Living Donor Renal Transplants." Andrea Tietjen also had "A Benefit Analysis of Administrative and Clinical Computerization of a Large Transplant Center" accepted for publication in the NATCO journal.
Sally Goldstein, M.S.W., Pediatric Social Worker, had an article, "Parent’s Night Out: Peer Support Can Help Parents of Young Renal Patients," included in Renal Life, a publication of AAKP.
The pharmaceutical company, Novartis, invited Dr. Mulgaonkar and Lewis Reisman, M.D., Director of Pediatric Nephrology and Transplantation for the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, to present a daylong transplantation workshop at their training program for international clinical research associates. Dr. Mulgaonkar also made a presentation at their headquarters in London.
