Organized by the National Kidney Foundation, this year’s Olympic-style games will celebrate 50 years of organ transplantation since the first successful kidney transplant was performed in Boston in 1954. Athletes who have received a life-saving organ transplant that has been functioning for at least six months and kidney donors are encouraged to compete in a variety of sports. The event brings transplant recipients, donor families, living donors and transplant professionals together to showcase the quality of life that can be achieved after transplant and to promote an increase in the availability of all organs for transplantation. Anyone interested in participating with or supporting Team Liberty, should call Marcia Krupit at 973-322-8461.
