The Renal and Pancreas Transplant Centers of
The Saint Barnabas Health Care System have opened The Transplant
Short Stay Unit, at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston,
to care for the special needs of kidney and pancreas transplant
recipients. The new unit is designed to facilitate early
discharge from the hospital, prevent hospital admission,
and provide outpatient infusions.
 The
Short Stay Unit offers patients individualized care in an
atmosphere that caters to their needs as transplant recipients.
Patient care is overseen by transplant physicians,
a transplant nurse practitioner and a highly skilled transplant
nursing staff which is well versed in the specialty of kidney
and pancreas transplants.
Treatment, patient status, and laboratory monitoring
-- including immunosuppressive drug levels and evaluation
-- are available and
will consistently be communicated to the referring physician.
The Transplant Short Stay Unit is located within
the Transplant Department at Saint Barnabas Medical Center;
