About Our Program

Monmouth Medical Center Residency Group

Monmouth Medical Center (MMC) is a major academic affiliate of Rutgers University Biomedical and Health Sciences. For seventy years, MMC has excelled in training physicians with numerous well-respected residency programs. The Internal Medicine residency program, located in the Oceanside community of Long Branch, New Jersey, is a fully accredited three-year categorical program. The program is a strong clinically based program with an equally vigorous academic foundation supported by structured lectures, interactive medical educational programs, and independent simulation opportunities. This robust and comprehensive program offers not only traditional training but also adapts to the rapidly changing landscape of medical training.

Washington Monthly has recognized Monmouth Medical Center as one of the 50 Best Teaching Hospitals in America (out of 3300 hospitals). Criteria centered on patient outcomes, civic leadership, and value of care.

Graduates of this Internal Medicine Residency program have long distinguished themselves as respected clinical and academic physicians in the medical community. While many graduates continue their education in highly regarded medical fellowship programs in all subspecialties, others successfully pursue primary care in both academic teaching and private practice.
