Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center
The Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center constitutes a free-standing
100 bed acute care psychiatric facility which provides inpatient and intensive
outpatient programs for adults, and older adults diagnosed with psychiatric
and dual disorders. We are committed to serving our patients and providing
a high level of care for psychiatric patients.
The pharmacy is located centrally in the building and is a pillar of providing
medications, technical knowledge, research, and problem solving throughout
the building. The Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Center utilizes computerized
physician order entry (CPOE), automated dispensing cabinets (ADC) on all
units, and barcode medication administration. This allows the pharmacy
to operate at high efficiency so pharmacists are able to focus on clinical
aspects of patient’s treatment. One unique aspect of the Barnabas
Health Behavioral Health Center is that our prescribers are hired by our
hospital. This allows the pharmacy to work very closely with prescribers.
Our prescriber rely on the pharmacy greatly and enjoy working one-on-one
with the team. Our pharmacists round on patients and attend treatment
team on each unit. The clinical aspects our pharmacy currently provides
: pain consultations, anticoagulation monitoring and dosing, monitoring
of all drug levels, medication reconciliation, medication education through
inpatient and outpatient groups, diabetes education to inpatients and
outpatients, and antimicrobial drug monitoring.
The pharmacy has 3 full time pharmacists, 2 during day hours and 1 during
nighttime hours. The pharmacy also has 3 part time pharmacists who are
utilized to allow the pharmacy to provide our clinical services. The pharmacy
at Barnabas Behavioral provides precepting to over 20 students per year
