Screening Equals Prevention

In their early stages, gastrointestinal cancers may have no symptoms. Colorectal cancer screening is designed to help with early detection of colorectal tumors.

For individuals with colorectal cancer risk factors, regular screenings should begin at an earlier age and/or be screened more often. Risk factors include a strong family history of colorectal cancer, a personal history of colorectal cancer or polyps, or a personal history of an inflammatory bowel disease.

Routine colorectal cancer screenings are the best way to prevent colon cancer or find it at an early, more treatable stage. Both men and women should adopt a regular examination schedule, beginning at age 50, even if they have no gastrointestinal cancer symptoms.

One of the most respected cancer hospitals in NJ, Saint Barnabas Medical Center offers comprehensive services that include the most advanced, innovative approach to colorectal cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment. Our team of health care professionals is dedicated to providing the highest quality of diagnosis and care.

By taking action through proper colon care and regular screenings, you can reduce the risk of colorectal cancer.
